Footd: Bird Pattern Dress

Time for another FOOTD or Frugal Outfit of the Day! And the first one for this new blog (woot woot!).

I recently acquired (and by acquired, I mean my sister so generously handed down) a pretty dark blue dress that’s sprinkled with bright-colored birds, a pattern I’ve heard is actually quite popular in the summer.

Unfortunately, it’s no longer summer here in the Philippines- we’ve now entered the cold and wet season. I still wanted to wear my newly-acquired dress however, and where there’s a will, there’s a way.

Making clothing items work out of season is I think, one of the skills frugal fashionistas need to be adept at. I decided to make this dress work for the cooler season by wearing my gray stockings with it, which I think gave the entire outfit a more whimsical feel. The gray stockings also matched perfectly with my gray Trez Marias bag.

This look is really easy to recreate (all you need are stockings really) and it makes great use of your summery dresses in the colder months. If you’re in need of different colored flats to complete your look, I’d suggest Maggie’s Box, as they have flats of practically every color at very reasonable prices.

Since there seems to be no stopping the rain, I hope to wear more outfits like these in the coming days. It’s been a while since I’ve worn stockings, so I’m glad I’ve got an excuse to wear them again.

Until next FOOTD, happy frugal styling everyone!
